Is Sony About to Reveal PS5 Pro?

Sony might unveil its long-awaited PS5 Pro at the Tokyo Game Show 2024, as the company has confirmed it will be attending for the first time since 2019.
That might not sound too significant to some, but the last time Sony felt it was worth showing up to the Tokyo Game Show was just before it launched the PS5, which means we could get a sneak peek or even some hands-on demos of the PlayStation 5 Pro.
Even though Sony has turned more of its focus onto Western audiences, with Japanese gamers leaning more towards portable consoles like the Nintendo Switch and mobile, the Tokyo Game Show is the perfect place to unveil new hardware due to the sheer number of attendees and companies that take part every year.
There will be 731 total exhibitors across 3,190 booths, making it one of the largest shows to date. And having Sony in attendance will only drive more people to the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
Tokyo Game Show 2024 takes place from Thursday, September 26 until Sunday, September 29. Tickets for the general public go on sale from Saturday, July 13, and a single-day ticket costs 3000 yen (around $18).

Sony just held its Business Segment Meeting for 2024, in which the company presented the slide below (via Automaton Media). The slide reveals that between when the PS5 launched in late 2020 and now, it's generated $106 billion in sales, and a total operating profit of $10 billion, making it the most successful PlayStation console ever.
The only PlayStation console that comes close to the PS5's total sales and profits is, pretty unsurprisingly, the PS4. Up until the PS5's launch, the PS4 was Sony's most successful console by a country mile, totalling $107 billion in sales and $9 billion in operating profit, far outstripping the PlayStation, PS2, and PS3 consoles by at least $36 billion in sales.
The PS4's console generation lasted roughly seven years, so it's surprising that the PS5 has already overtaken it in sales and profits when it hasn't even been on the market for four years. This is even more surprising when you consider PS5 consoles were really hard to find for more than two years after it originally launched, mainly due to part shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A user on X called "consolevariations" reported on the PS5 Development Kit being sold as the "PizzaStation 5 Development Pizza Kit," which is a big no-no in the industry. Microsoft and Sony make development kits for developers to get used to consoles in pre-release form, with added development-focused features.
Development kits are elusive and aren't usually sold, as their release has NDAs and is very strictly controlled. Reselling a development kit is a serious no-no, but this PS5 Dev Kit was disguised as the "PizzaStation 5 Development Pizza Kit," which I'm sure got through the usual checks from Sony and sold for a very hefty $6500.
We heard and reported on the PlayStation 5 Development Kit many years ago, and then again with the PlayStation 5 Pro Development Kit pictures surfacing in December 2023, where months after we had the beefed-up specs of what to expect from the PS5 Pro in March 2024.
