Jet2 is an airline I seem to miss out on quite a bit, being from southern England I don't very often get an opportunity to fly with them as all of their bases are in the North. However for this trip I spotted this flight, at a reasonable time and arriving in the UK still with enough time for me to make the last train home easily. So I did it. My first flight onboard a Jet2 737! And I have to say despite the slight delay, overall I was impressed. Lots of legroom onboard, always helps when you have the row the yourself as well. Flight wasn't too busy, a fair few empty seats dotted around which meant people could spread out a little more, always good. The flight was late because the inbound flight from Manchester had a missed approach during its arrival in Madeira and then was holding for quite some time before approaching again. However a good tailwind meant we did manage to make up some lost time on the way. A typical runway 05 departure from Funchal, a right turn immediately once airborne to avoid the hillside ahead. Our routing took us straight up the Atlantic towards Ireland, some great views of the coastline before descent into a very grey, overcast Manchester. My first arrival at Manchester on RWY05R, then a long taxi back across towards the terminal. Over all a great flight, quite nice to mix it up a bit and fly with a different airline back into a different airport.
