Extreme Flooding in China Leads to Mass Evacuations

Severe flooding in the Chinese municipality of Chongqing led to red alerts (China’s most severe warning) and thousands of evacuations.

Torrential rain caused flooding and mudslides across China for more than a week, with 85,000+ evacuations in just the Sichuan province alone, according to official state media. The China Meteorological Center said some areas of the country might see 2.75 in (70mm) of rain per hour.
