Kimber 1911 Field Strip - Clean / Oil / Reassemble (Part 1 of 2) Model: Custom Target II ~$750USD Hoppe's .45 Cleaning Kit used in this video - tinyurl.com/y76guycj Amazon does a great job of carrying Hoppe's products at cheap prices. At some point I purchased additional patches and a larger Hoppe's 9 cleaning bottle from them, but it's highly recommended that you at least start with the kit above. Updated 11-14-2011: This is one of, well other than the rear adjustable sight, this is pretty much Kimber's entry-level model. And even though this 1911 is entry-level for a Kimber, they still come through and put together a quality gun. I've only shot about 700 rounds so far over the past 20 months and have not had any serious issues - Had two Failure to Feeds with an 8 round magazine during the beginning of the 500 round break-in period and a recent Failure to Feed with a MAG-TECH round. I try to stick with the same brand - Remington UMC 230 grain .45 ACP. The recent MAG-TECH FTF was while my friend was shooting it, so it might have been something he did. I haven't personally had a FTF for over a year or about 400 or 500 rounds ago. On a side note, I have noticed that the feed ramp could use a little polishing. Please post if you have any experience polishing a feed ramp. While visiting the Smith & Wesson factory in Springfield, MA last October, one of the gunsmith's that worked on fixing 1911s pointed me in the right direction of a leather type polishing wheel that you put in a dremel, but I forgot the brand name... Any help on that would be greatly appreciated.
