Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on March 26 inspected the Chenab Bridge in Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir. The first trial run on Chenab Bridge on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link will be conducted in Reasi.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Railway line is one of the world’s biggest engineering challenges of the world. Today is an important day as the trolley run was done on Chenab bridge and several tunnels are being inspected as well. Before 2014, Rs 700-800 crores were allocated for such projects but today Rs 6,000 crore has been allocated for this project. I expect trains will start running on these tracks by December-January.”
