How do I fold down the rear seat? In this video, young mechanic will show you how to do just that and to answer questions such as the following, "I was told that my Accord has the ability to fold down the rear seat to access the trunk compartment using a valet key but I am unable to find the keyhole or figure out how this can be done. This tips & guide video was done on a 2004 Honda Accord, which is the same as all 7th Generation model year 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007 DX, LX & EX 2.4L & 3.0L engine.
The Honda Accord offers some flexibility in terms of cargo capacity through its folding rear seats. Folding the rear seats down will allow you to load items that would otherwise not fit in the standard configuration of its trunk.
All of the Honda Accord sedans had fold down rear seats beginning with the 1986 model. The keylock to keep strangers out of the trun, is located on the shelf between the seatbacks and the rear window.
Folding down the seat back just requires a few steps:
1. Enter the Accord through a rear door.
2. Find the lock of the rear seat. It is located on the flat surface in the area between the top of the rear seat and the rear window.
3. Insert the vehicle key into the lock and turn. If your Accord's rear seat is split, turning the key one way unlocks the seatback on that side. Turn it the other way to unlock the seatback on the other side.
4. Flip the rear seat down to allow access to the trunk.
5. Make sure to remove any items from the back seat before folding it down.
6. Store the rear armrest.
7. Pull the seat release located in the trunk.
8. Push the seat back from inside the trunk or pull it down from in the cabin.
To lock the seat back in the upright position, just raise it and push firmly until you hear it latch.
