Gloves of the Underdog
First up are the Gloves of the Growling Underdog! These gloves grant the wearer Advantage on Melee Attack Rolls while surrounded by 2 or more foes. Advantage is really great, especially on a Great Weapon Master who is getting +10 to damage at the cost of -5 to attack rolls. However, what these gloves don’t mention is that even if an enemy is knocked unconscious, you’ll still get advantage. For that reason, if you want to maximize the value from these gloves, you’ll want to turn on non-lethal attacks. That way as you defeat enemies, you won’t lose advantage on your melee attacks, since the enemy is still alive on the ground counting as being surrounded by a foe.
Sword of the Silverlight
Next up is how to get Dame Aylin to join you!
Dame Aylin has many powerful abilities like Lunar Smite which engulfs her weapon in Selune’s light causing 9-31 damage and inflicting Holy Flame on a hit which deals 1d4 radiant damage per turn. She also has Lunar Flare, which fires a mote of moonlight that deals 5d6 radiant damage and creates a holy fire surface in a 7 foot radius where it impacts for 2 turns. And if that wasn’t enough, Dame Aylin has a lunar blessing aura which inflicts moonbeam on nearby foes. Moonbeam deals 2-20 radiant damage per turn and activates on the start of Dame Aylin’s Turn, and on the enemies turn, which makes this aura deal an insane amount of damage. To get Dame Aylin to join you, in Act 2 when you find the Nightsong, she must be spared by Shadowheart. Then, in Act 3 you need to complete the Quest Find the Nightsong which involves bringing Dame Aylin to Larroakan and siding with her to defeat him. Once he’s defeated, Long Rest and talk to Dame Aylin in the morning. She will depart your camp but offers to join you in the final fight against the Netherbrain.
Rare Shadowheart Dialogue
Next up is some rare Shadowheart Dialogue. If Shadowheart spares the Nightsong, she will have different dialogue when she interacts with SelunE items and places. For example, the Selunite shrine under last light inn has Shadowheart reacting differently, also when finding the Idol of Selûne inside the Potters chest inside the Potter’s House in the Ruined Battlefield. And the reason this is rare is because most players are off right away to slay Ketheric Thorm after freeing the Nightsong and won’t go exploring these Selunite places. And if you already looted these selunite items then you can’t trigger the new dialogue, so it’s quite rare to hear these Shadowheart lines.
Club of Equipping
Next up is the Club of Auto-Equip! This seemingly innocent looking club automatically equips itself when picked up! Your current weapon will magically end up in your inventory and the club will be your new main hand weapon. But why? These clubs are found near the escape raft near the Moonrise Towers Prison and are used by the Deep Gnomes to break the chains on the boat to escape. Maybe the clubs were designed to auto equip so the gnomes didn’t have to waste an action equipping them? However, because these clubs auto-equip, we can use this to our advantage. By pickpocketing this onto an enemy, we can essentially disarm them by replacing their powerful weapon with this weak club. You could even pickpocket their real weapon once the club is placed since they will unequip their current weapon instantly.
Blessing of Umberlee
Next up is how to get a blessing from queen umberlee. Unlike Sweet Stone Features which requires you to pay 5000 gold for a statue of yourself in exchange for a permanent bless, you can instead get a bless until long rest by placing ANY item into the Offerings Chest found within the Water Queen’s House. And you can repeat this each day and for each party member in order to have your whole party walking around with a 1d4 bonus to attack rolls and saving throws. It’s such an easy buff to get, it’s totally worth doing considering you can just walk there right as you enter the lower city and keep it for the remainder of the game!
