At the end of the
At the end of the Second World War, there was a prison which was occupied by the American Army which became infamous for it's execution of convicted German war criminals. Landsberg Prison was a site in which even Adolf Hitler was imprisoned but he was held in comfort there. At the end of the conflict, hundreds of concentration camp guards, einsatzgruppe executions and members of the Nazi hierarchy were on death row awaiting their executions.
Around 300 convicted Nazi war criminals were executed inside of Landsberg Prison, and this included Hitler's doctor Karl Brandt, ruthless executioners such as Otto Ohlendorf and Werner Braune and many more. But it was on the gallows that stood in the courtyard that the majority of executions took place, and the condemned were led up the scaffold to meet the executioner who placed them over the trapdoor.
