Bad fan motor on Range
Bad fan motor on Range Hood Exhaust Fan? Don't replace the whole unit, just replace the fan motor ! It is a fairly easy task. Warning! If you are not comfortable with basic wiring and safety, do not attempt to do this yourself. In most cases you can get a replacement motor on line through a company like Amazon or other appliance parts sellers. I have attempted to produce an easy to follow video here for anyone who is interested in doing it yourself.
Note: Once you remove the fan housing from the hood, be sure to check the circular plastic vent louver which is just inside the duct work above the fan. It will most likely be coated with grease and it could effect the exhaust. If you need to clean it, simply pull it down and out and wash it with hot soapy water and put it back in as long as it moves freely. This louver closes when the fan is off and prevents anything from falling from the duct down into the fan.
