Eligibility criteria:-
You can invest in RBI FRSBs if you meet the following criteria: An individual who is a resident of India An individual jointly with another individual A parent/guardian on behalf of a minor A Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) Charitable institutions , Universities.

Deposit Limit:-
Minimum investment of Rs.1,000 No maximum limit on investment
Note:- Any no.of Accounts will be open.No top up facility is available

Tenure:-
7 years For general public and Senior Citizens:- Have a lock-in period of 7 years, after which they mature.

Interest Rates:-
The interest on the bonds is payable half-yearly on 1st January and 1st July every year.
The interest payable on January 1 and July 1 will be linked to the then prevailing rate of interest on National Saving Certificate (NSC).
FRS will pay 35 basis points more than the rate offered on NSC.
As of now the interest rate payable on NSC is 7.00%. FRSB holders will be paid 7.35% rate on January 1, 2023.
From 1 July 2023 ,interest rate may be 8.05%. Because from 1 April 2023,NSC pays 7.7%

Features of Interest:-
The coupon rate on FRSB 2020 (T) for period January 1,2023 to June 30, 2023 and payable on July 1,2023 has been reset at 7.35% (7% +0.35% =7.35%).
The interest is paid out every six months on 1st july and 1st january ,if half-yearly for period ending 30th june and 31st december respectively, while the cumulative option offers a maturity value

Loan Facility:-
RBI FRSBs are non-tradable and non-transferable. Therefore, you cannot use these bonds for availing of a loan from non-banking companies, banks or any other financial institution

Premature Closure:-
Premature closure not allowed For general public for 60-70 years of age, after 6 years For 70-80 years age, after 5 years for above 80 years of age, after 4 years Note:- Premature penalty will be 50% of the last interest amount paid

Maturity:-
RBI FRSBs have a lock-in period of 7 years, after which they mature No interest will accrue after the maturity of the bond.
Note:- If deposit holder dies before maturity period, then the bond will be transferred to nominees or legal heirs. The nominee or legal heir should hold the bond till the maturity

Tax benefits:-
No 80C benefit The interest earned on RBI FRSBs is taxable. When the interest is paid out, it is considered taxable income and will be taxed as per your applicable income tax slab. Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) is also applicable.

Application process:-
You can apply either online or offline.
These bonds are available only at banks not in post office
Online  application:You can apply for frsbs on your bank’s official website.Keep in mind that in case of online application, neither joint account nor  minor  applicant is permitted.
Offline application:for an offline application, you can visit your bank branch

Documents Required:-
Your KYC (Know Your Customer) is essential while making savings bond investments. These will include a proof of address and a proof of identity, as specified by the bank.
The duly filled application form
A cancelled blank cheque
The investment contribution/amount
