After spending a couple of years in Pennsylvania Amish country, the Norfolk & Western 611’s tenure at the Strasburg Rail Road came to a close on Memorial Day weekend, 2023. I joined a few friends, as well as many other railfans, on Sunday, May 28, to bid farewell to the Queen of Steam. This day led me to the conclusion that springtime is, in my opinion, probably the best time of year to visit the Strasburg Rail Road. The greenery is new, creating vibrant scenery, while the corn plants are low to the ground, offering a variety of shots that aren’t possible in the summer. I tried to take advantage of as many shots as I could, and I am overall pleased with the results.
