Indian cricket legend Bishan Singh Bedi passed away on October 23, 2023, at the age of 77. He is considered to be one of the greatest bowlers of all time, and was also a successful captain, leading India to a number of victories.

Bedi was born in Amritsar, India, in 1946. He made his international debut in 1967, and quickly established himself as one of the most feared bowlers in the world. He was known for his left-arm spin bowling, which was both accurate and deceptive.

Bedi played 67 Test matches for India, taking 266 wickets at an average of 28.71. He was also a prolific wicket-taker in ODIs, taking 109 wickets in 104 matches at an average of 27.48.

In addition to his bowling, Bedi was also a solid batsman. He scored 5,022 runs in Test cricket, at an average of 26.60. He also scored 1,000 runs in ODIs, at an average of 22.22.

Bedi captained India in 22 Test matches, and led the team to victory on eight occasions. He was also a successful captain in ODIs, leading India to victory in 40 of the 79 matches he captained in.

Bedi retired from international cricket in 1979. He was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2009.

Bedi's death is a major loss for the Indian cricket fraternity. He was one of the greatest players to have ever played the game, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of cricketers to come.
