DETERMINATION OF SULFATES IN WATER SAMPLES

A water sample is treated with a commercially available reagent, containing water soluble barium salts precipitating the sulfate ions as a fine, white, barium sulfate. A specially calibrated spectrophotometer measures the absorbance of the sample giving the result in ppm.
