The Sabal Palmetto!

This palm tree is called the Sabal palmetto. Some of the common names for it include Cabbage Palm, Swamp Palmetto, Sabal Palm, Palmetto Tree, and Carolina Palmetto Tree. There are many uses for this palm tree, you can eat the inside (It is called heart of palm, and make sure you KNOW it is a Sabal palmetto and contact a plant specialist before eating any part of this plant or any plant at all!), you can find tinder for starting fires in between the boots (The dead fronds, be careful for critters in there!), you can use the fibers on the fronds for string/thread, and there are many more uses for this palm  tree! Look them up! The area I was in for this video was the Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge near Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, U.S.A.

IMPORTANT Make sure you know what plants are and are not edible, contact a plant expert before eating any wild plant at all. Be careful when sticking your hand and fingers around this plant (and other plants) because a lot of critters (Including, but not limited to, scorpions, spiders, and snakes.) can be found hiding around and on the plant.
