Running disk cleanup will improve performance and free up space on your hard drive. Disk Cleanup has been around forever, but this trusted Windows utility can still help clean out the temporary files, installers and other junk littering your hard drive. To run it, just type Disk Cleanup on the search box, then click the best match. The Disk Cleanup window should appear.
Select the drive you want to clean, then click OK.
Below the files to delete:, check the boxes for the file types that you want to delete, and then click OK.
In the message that appears, click Delete files.
