In this video, Ten explains what an EPIC Module is. He defines the module as sub-components of the EPIC software divided into two categories.
1. Medical Specialty based Modules to serve service lines such as Labs, Radiology, Cardiology, Oncology, Dental, Orthropedics and ER.
2. Operational Tools based Modules to serve operations such as Admissions, Scheduling, Health Insurance Billing, Reporting and HL7 Interfacing.
Ten again stresses the importance of demonstrating both clinical and software expertise. Then using your own background of a specific module such as Laboratory or Radiology to improve your chances of becoming selected for EPIC Certification. Remember, the combination of both IT and clinical skills can increase the chances of being selected to become trained and offered an opportunity to become EPIC certified by a sponsoring institution.
