Spyro the Dragon: The RETROspective

There have been many great years in gaming but none may have topped 1998. The game's released that year frequent the top of greatest games of all-time lists. Even the year's so-called lesser games are all-time classics.

Spyro the Dragon was a critical and commercial success in 1998 spawning a franchise that had new games released annually for over a decade and getting the remaster treatment last year. However, for as successful and popular a character and franchise as Spyro was, it's often forgotten in the history of gaming. Is it a case of rose-coloured glasses that I think that Spyro is one of the underrated greats in gaming history?

Today, I look back on Spyro the Dragon with two decades of hindsight in The RETROspective.
