Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey has chosen not to offer an apology to sub-postmasters for his involvement in the Post Office Horizon scandal. In his first interview since an ITV drama brought the scandal back to public attention, Sir Ed was asked 10 times if he wished to express remorse, but he refrained from doing so.

During the interview, Sir Ed, who served as the Post Office minister from May 2010 to February 2012, consistently expressed "regret" for the events that unfolded but did not issue a formal apology.

Criticism has been directed at the Liberal Democrat leader since it was revealed that he initially declined a meeting with campaigner Alan Bates in 2010, only agreeing to see him in October of that year.

Peter Cardwell speaks with trade unionist Andy McDonald and politcal commentator Charlie Sansom.
