I played with them and cuddled them at my free time during volunteering at Moholoholo Rehablitation Centre.
The heavily built honey badger, or ratel, is silver-gray on the upper head, back, and tail,and black ord ark brown elsewhere. Its long front claws are well-adapted for digging.
They have very thick (about 1/4 inches), rubbery skin, which is so tough that it’s been shown to be nearly impervious to traditionally made arrows and spears. This skin helps protect the Honey Badger from the teeth of predators. They can chomp down with enough force to break the shell of a tortoise.
Honey badger is one of the few animals in the world which is immune to cobra venom. They are listed as the "most fearless animal in the world" in the Guinness Book of Records.
Ratel (inaczej miodożer; ang. honey bagder) uznany jest za najbardziej nieustraszone zwierzę na Ziemi. To niepozorne zwierzątko (ważące 8- 14 kg, o wzroście max. 25 cm) potrafi zabić nie tylko dużo większe od niego jadowite węże jak żmiję sykliwą czy kobrę przylądkową, ale nawet słonia czy bawoła. Uważa się, że miodożery, których nazwa wzięła się od ich uwielbienia miodu, są bezwzględne i brutalne. Potrafią zaatakować każde zwierzę i odeprzeć każdy atak. Ratel ma bardzo grubą skórę i jest niezwykle wytrzymałym zwierzęciem.
