shanbehzadeh ensemble & trio donarierShanbehzadehs Ensemble Traditional songs, dances, vocals and trance rythms from the Persian Gulf Saeid Shanbehzadeh Naghib Shanbehzadeh Habib Meftahbousheri Contact : [email protected] The Shanbehzadehs Ensemble offers a unique aspect of hypnotic dances and traditional music from the Persian Gulf and more precisely from the unkown region of Boushehr. The main instruments include the Neyanban (Iranian bagpipe), Neyjoti (double flute), Dammam (dual faced percussion), Zarbetempo (percussion), traditional flute, Senj (local type of cymbals) and Boogh (horns). Founded in 1990, this Ensemble directed by Saeid Shanbehzadeh delighted audiences in Iran, Europe and North America with the hypnotic rhythms and melodies of this amazing music. TRADITIONAL MUSIC FROM BOUSHEHR Boushehr is situated far of the centre of Iran, near the south-west coast of the Persian Gulf. This city lives at the rythm of a tradition and a culture different from the North, especially from the region of Teheran. The history of Boushehr is the symbol of a fishing village which has become a strategic war area. Down the centuries, Arabian, African, Indian, Armenian and Jewish populations integrated the city and participated to the local trade. The music from the city of Boushehr arose from the unique combination of Persian, Arab, African and Indian traditions that came together centuries ago in this southern Iranian cultural crossroad on the Persian Gulf. This diversity results from the wealth of local traditions in which music plays a vital role in all aspects of life: religion, work, social events, drama, music therapy and trance. The traditional musical ensemble of Saied Shanbezadeh is available for concerts, festivals and workshops.
