Do you ever feel like
Do you ever feel like you just need a break from alcohol?
We all need a break sometimes but that doesn’t mean you have to relegate yourself to the kids table with an uninspiring soft drink – you can still make delicious and interesting non-alcoholic drinks. In this episode I will be using some of the easy peasy homemade ingredients from our episode on syrups and so on which you can find below, and showing you how easy it is to make great drinks for you or anyone else who is staying away from the booze!

SUMMER BERRY SPRITZ
30ml (1oz) spiced berry syrup – recipe below
30ml (1oz) lemon juice
Around 90ml (3oz) soda water
Fresh berries and thyme sprig to garnish
ZESTY ICED TEA
2 – 3 barspoons oleo saccharum (to taste)
100ml (3 1/3oz) cold Earl Grey tea
2 dash peach bitters (optional)
Grapefruit wedge or grapefruit twist and mint sprig to garnish
PINEAPPLE PUNCH
60ml (2oz) pineapple shrub
60ml (2oz) grapefruit juice – bottled is totally fine unless you have an abundance of fresh!
Tropical garnish – pineapple fronds, mint sprig, grapefruit wedge, cocktail umbrella – whatever you feel like!
SPICED BERRY SYRUP RECIPE
500g / 2 cups berries
250g / 1 cup fine sugar
250ml / 1 cup water
6 cloves
2 cardamom pods
1 stick cinnamon
2 strips of lemon peel
Gently simmer until reduced.
Cool, strain & bottle.
