A Simple Explanation of the Single Payer Healthcare Proposal
This video explains the essential parts of the Medicare for All bill proposed by Bernie Sanders and others, including how much it would cost to put this single payer healthcare system into place. It explains in depth about the pros and cons of the proposed Medicare for All bill.
**See corrections to funding Medicare for All in the description below**
**CORRECTION: To pay for the bill, Bernie Sanders has suggests two additional options not mentioned in this video. See https://www.sanders.senate.gov/downlo...
#1 - 7.5 percent income-based premium paid by employers
Revenue raised: $3.9 trillion over ten years.
Businesses would save over $9,000 in health care costs for the average employee under this
option.
#2 - 4 percent income-based premium paid by households
Revenue raised: $3.5 trillion over ten years.
The typical middle class family would save over $4,400 under this plan.
**Clarification: The government wouldn’t technically be paying for the healthcare as an increase in taxes would be required to fund a program like Medicare for All. So the tax payer still funds their healthcare in reality.
