The Center Counter defense is a very dynamic and offbeat chess opening for black where black plays 1...d5 on the first move of the game, immediately counter attacking white's center.  The Center-Counter defense is also known as the Scandinavian defense.  This is a very exciting chess opening for black since black immediately attacks white's center.  It is not the most common response to e4, but is a very solid option and has been used by many strong international and grand masters.  I have personally used this opening a lot and really love the positions that arise from the Icelandic gambit which black and play after the Nf6 lines if white tries to hold onto his pawn with c4.  Beginners should be careful of the Center Counter chess opening because of the fact that your queen comes out early and violates an opening principle.  That being said, with a little bit of practice, this opening for black can be a lot of fun and lead to some really exciting positions.
