I take a look at the history and evolution of Porky Pig, commonly considered The Looney Tunes first break-through star - voiced by Mel Blanc in both the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts. Porky Pig is the second-most featured Warner Bros. character appearing in over 160 classic shorts.
I discuss at how Porky spawned from the failure of Bosko and Buddy and how he evolved alongside Warner Bros. other characters, including Beans the Cat, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Charlie Dog, Speedy Gonzales and more, and how he co-existed alongside Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse.
I discuss how each animator had their own different evolution of him - Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Robert Clampett Frank Tashlin, Jack King, Cal Howard, Cal Dalton, Robert McKimson, Ben Hardaway and Ub Iwerks.
