Why not IOS ?
Because of different acronyms in different languages:
IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation.
ISO is derived from the Greek isos, meaning equal. Whatever the country, whatever the language, the short form of our name is always ISO.
ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 14001: 2015 ,which is based in part on 9001: 2008 and ISO 14001: 2004 published in 15th September 2015 and to replace 9001: 2008 and ISO 14001: 2004 over three years.
And ISO 45001: 2018 ,which is based in part on 9001: 2008 and OHSAS 18001: 2007 published in 12thMarch 2018 and to replace OHSAS 18001:: 2007 over three years.
