Eli and His Sons in the Bible: Important Lessons for Fathers

The Bible records that Eli's sons were scoundrels and had no regard for the Lord. They treated the Lord's offering with contempt by taking the fattiest portions of the meat that were meant to be sacrificed for the Lord (1 Samuel 2:15) Eli's sons also slept with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting (1 Samuel 2:22) However, Eli failed to discipline his sons and turn them from their wicked ways. The Lord God was not pleased with Eli and said to him: "Why do you honor your sons more than me by fattening yourselves on the choice parts of every offering made by my people of Israel?" (1 Samuel 2:30-32) Therefore, the Lord said to Eli, "all your descendants will die in the prime of their life". (1 Samuel 2:33) What important lessons can fathers learn from Eli and his sons?
