In this video you will learn how to calculate the right amount of CopyFlex® Liquid Silicone, found at https://www.makeyourownmolds.com/shop..., you need for your mold-making project. Chef Dominic demonstrates how to you can take any object and find the calculations by volume then convert to weight.

Chef Dominic teaches you how to measure your object and how to select the appropriate sized tube for your silicone mold.  MakeYourOwnMolds.com has various tubes, Tube-Its, to fit most mold making projects.

The next step is to determine the volume of food-grade silicone you will need for your project.  Chef Dominic teaches you how to determine the correct amount silicone you will need by using dry rice to represent CopyFlex® Liquid Silicone.

First, you place your object in a bowl.  Create a mold box around your object, and place it around the object.

Next, pour dry rice, beans, or unpopped popcorn into the mold box.  Again, the dry rice represents CopyFlex® Liquid Silicone.  Once the rice has reached the proper level above the top of your object, stop pouring.

Remove the paper tube and the object from the bowl.  Measure the rice that is in the bowl by pouring into a measuring cup.  The magic formula to convert from volume to weight is 12 ounces of volume 1 ½ cups of rice equals 1 pound of CopyFlex® Liquid Silicone.  In this demonstration there is 24 ounces of rice which requires two pounds of CopyFlex® Liquid Silicone.
