Chaturmas is a 4 month period when Jains do not consume vegetables that grow below the ground or "kandamul". Usually, most avoid having potatoes, ginger, onions, garlic, beetroot, carrots. This quarantine Chaturmas, we have not restrained ourselves from having ginger as they are great immunity boosters and we all need it. Chaturmas is also the time when monsoons arrive and what better thing to eat in monsoons than some piping hot wadas.

Ingredients:
4 boiled raw bananas
1 tsp salt
2 chopped green chillies
1 snob of grated ginger
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
2 tbsp Bengal gram flour or besan
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 tsp carrom seeds or ajwain
1/8 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 cup water
Oil for frying

Method:
1. In a mixing bowl, take some boiled raw bananas and mash them roughly. Add salt, green chillies and ginger to this. Add all the spices to it and mix well. Next, add pomegranate seeds, lemon juice and coriander leaves for additional flavour and bite. Make a nice filling.

2. Using this filling masala, make small wadas or wadas of your desired shape and keep aside. Now, in a small bowl, take some besan. Add salt, ajwain, turmeric powder and water to it and make a lump-free batter for coating.

3. Dip the wadas in the batter and fry them in oil on medium flame till golden brown. Serve with some fried chillies, tomato ketchup and green chutney.
