A man with vision so sharp and hockey IQ so elite he made setting up players look effortless, and his charm even off the ice couldn’t be denied. Oates, a Hall of Famer with over 1,400 points, was the master of the assist, the architect behind some of the greatest goal-scorers in NHL history’s career years. A player that proved that the one setting up the goal scorers are just as important Yet, despite his remarkable achievements, when we think of the sport's top point-getters, his name rarely comes to mind. Leading to me and many others to consider Adam Oates the most underrated player the sport has ever seen.
We know the name, but do we truly understand the greatness behind it? It’s time to set the record straight. Adam Oates, a legend in every sense, deserves the recognition and respect that’s long been overdue.
