History of Streetcars, Part 1: Ascendance

The first of two parts on the rise and fall of streetcars in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In this episode Javier and I are going to explore the history behind streetcars along with their land use and development.

This episode will feature a trip back in time to the Washburn of the early 1900's, at the height of streetcars. Understand how development of an American city's first suburbs played in integral role in transit and the links between dense development and transit ridership.

Most research for this video came from the book Urban Mass Transit: The Life Story of a Technology by Robert C. Post. Also Wikipedia because this is a YouTube video.
