Telecom Applications vs. Mobile Applications Telecom Software Applications and Mobile Software Applications are different. Telecom is an industry, Telecom software applications are Telecom industry-related applications whereas Mobile Applications are Mobile device-related applications. Telecom Applications The Telecom industry consists of a set of sectors like wireless communication, satellite communication, and Internet Service Provider, etc. Telecom Software Applications are two types: 1.Operations Support Systems / Operational Support Systems(OSS): OSS supports back-office activities like telecom network, provisioning, maintaining customer service, Inventory, etc. 2. Business Support Systems (BSS): BSS deals with the Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) and processes such as generating invoices, IVR’s Call Centers, taking orders, processing bills, collecting payments, etc. Mobile Applications A mobile application, most commonly referred to as an app, is a type of application software designed to run on a mobile device, such as a Smartphone or tablet computer. Mobile applications frequently serve to provide users with similar services to those accessed on PCs. Apps are generally small, individual software units with limited function. Three types of Mobile Applications: 1. Mobile Native Applications 2. Mobile Web Applications / Web Apps 3. Mobile Hybrid Applications
