12 - Palazzo dei Normanni

The Norman Palace in Palermo, Sicily, is the oldest royal residence in Europe. Also known as the Royal Palace for this reason, it is, above all, the wonderful representation of the coexistence of the Arab, Norman and Byzantine cultures. This monument is the symbol of the power, wealth and faith of the Norman kingdom; the latter conquered Sicily in 1061 and Palermo in 1072.
