After installing an after market head unit in my BMW Z4, I decided to add an aftermarket camera so that I could have automatic reverse camera functionality on a car that didn't come with a screen. Since this car didn't have a factory screen, I had to install the android head unit and then run a wire to the rear bumper through a relay in order to get this functionality. Cameras that are compatible with this are analog and usually not HD, but the quality is good enough to see where you are backing up to. There are a few ways you can install a backup camera, you can do a wireless reverse camera, but those come with their own issues. You can also get an MMI controller that will connect to your factory system, but those can get pricey and of course you can do what I did and run a wire from the trunk to the front and connect it using a physical connection. It's a little bit of work, but I show you each step of the way.
