The buckets retirement philosophy is
The buckets retirement philosophy is pretty cool. Basically, you're keeping the bulk of your retirement funds in an account with a higher risk/return profile and only accessing these funds every 4-6 years. For your short-term finances, you'll keep those funds in a very low risk/return (maybe no return) that you can rely on for the next few years of expenses.
We use Excel and some basic formulas to plan out needed expenses for our three retirement buckets. This spreadsheet should be easy for anyone to make and you can use Google Sheets or Excel.
