Renting a Tuk Tuk in Sri Lanka - Part 1

We rented a tuk tuk for 27 days of travel from tuktukrental.com. Their business model supports local owners, they're tuk tuks are great (Shawn has driven one before) and they have tons of useful information for renters including a detailed map of attractions from other drivers and a 24/7 WhatsApp text chain with everyone else driving around Sri Lanka. It's great.

This is the first five days of our journey. We headed North from Negombo to Anuradhapura, exploring the Buddhist temples, hiked Lion Rock and Pidurangala Rock in Sigiriya, and explored off the beaten path places like Namal Uyana, the "Pink Quartz Mountain." When you have a tuk tuk you can go (just about) anywhere you want.

Most of all, we’ve love learning how to drive a stick shift TUK TUK! Local Sri Lankans are always so curious to see us westerners at the wheel.

Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with kind and friendly people. We can’t wait to see more of this island.
