These are my personal recommendations based on what I did for my personal desk, I am not a "professional", build your desk at your own risk and use your best judgment on what type of support is required for your application
STEP 1 Measure! - Be sure you know exactly how much space you have for your new desk plan, measure twice to ensure no mistakes are made
STEP 2 - Determine budget/Material Choices

There are many sizes and options, browse the desktop-countertop-tabletop sections of IKEA. ALEX Drawer units add 14” of support per unit. In my application - 74” countertop, this leaves roughly 60” of unsupported length between the drawer and support legs on the opposite side. I did not use the third center support leg - use your discretion here. If you are only using legs and no drawer units, I would recommend a center support leg/s as you would have roughly 74” of unsupported desk area between both sets of legs. Factor in what you plan to mount to your desk and how much weight will be loaded onto it etc.
If using a non-solid desk option such as Linnmon, be sure to install your center support leg as well as mounting a reinforcing material on any desk mounts that will hold the weight (such as monitor mounts). You can do this by adding a piece of cut plywood between any mounting clamps and your desk on both top and bottom where the mount meets the desk. REMEMBER, Non-Solid options are NOT solid throughout making them structurally inferior. Follow included IKEA instructions when drilling or fastening anything to these desks.

Step 3 Build Plan placement of all your hardware and materials. Be sure to follow provided manufacturer instructions and use proper hardware when installing everything. All screw holes were pre-drilled using a 7/64 drill bit. Drilling locations were marked using a marking pencil while holding leg mounts/PC mount where they needed to be placed and marking through the screw holes with marking pencil. Screws and hardware were finished by hand to ensure not to overtighten/strip. PC mount base plate was installed 6.5” from the leg side of the desk and 6.25” from the front of the desk. Per my PC measurements (17.5”L x 8.25”W x 17.5”H) when my PC is mounted, it sits one inch from the front of my desk and to some extent be adjusted forwards or backward in the mount. Be sure to measure your tower and ensure it will fit the stand and adjust as needed. This is a swivel mount so you will be able to rotate the computer freely should your cables allow for movement. I did not use the SIGNUM Cable management device however this simply screws into the bottom of your desk wherever needed allowing you to then route any cables you have over and through it, zip ties where necessary.
Step 4 Sit & Enjoy
Desk Rise Option
Two ALEX drawers MUST be used to support the desk. Furniture legs between the top of drawer units and the desk(2" or 4"). One set per side (4). Without two ALEX drawers, adjustable desk support legs will be needed to account for the height difference
