To record a track while listening to another, enable record on the track that you want to record to and confirm that the track you want to listen to during recording is not muted. When Mute is turned on, the M button in the track tools will appear depressed. Click record or press F5 to start recording.  The unmuted tracks will play as you record to the track.  Once you have finished, click stop.

It is important to understand the track controls when recording a track and listening to another track at the same time. Beneath the Volume slider of a track, you will see several buttons. The first button is the enable recording to this track button. If you want to record this track, it should be enabled. The button will have a red circle when it is enabled. Next to this button is an M, this is the mute button. When the M is pressed, the track will be muted and will not play during recording. Next to the M is an S, this is the Solo button. When the S is pressed, only tracks that have solo enabled will play during recording.

For this example, you can see that there are clips on Tracks 1-3 and we have enabled Track 4 to record. Track 1 and 3 are muted. This means that during recording, I will only hear the clip-on Track 2.
