Glacier Express Excellence Class

Switzerland is home to several scenic railway routes, with the Glacier Express and Bernina Express being the two most famous ones. The Glacier Express is a regular scheduled train between Zermatt and St. Moritz. Though it is called an express, it is travels quite slow and climbs steep gradient of Swiss Alps. The Excellence Class on the Glacier Express offers a window seat for every passenger with a superb panoramic view and seven course meal with endless supply of wine. The train crosses 291 bridges and goes through 91 tunnels between Zermatt and St. Moritz.

It takes around 8 hours to cover roughly 290 km (180 miles). Though expensive, it is well worth the money and we had a great time making some new Swiss friends on the train and opportunity to had an exclusive tour of the trains kitchen and internal operation.
