UK expected to suspend extradition treaty with Hong Kong

Tensions between China and Britain are set to escalate again. Shelving a 30-year extradition treaty would be the latest salvo from the UK in response to China's national security law in Hong Kong. Britain had previously angered China when it decided against using Huawei for its 5G network, and promised a path to citizenship for millions of people from Hong Kong who want to leave the city. Beijing has warned that it will respond to interference in its internal affairs, and urged London to avoid further damaging relations.
