How well do you know your pipes?

In this video, Laura explains the applications of twinwall pipe, alongside the different types and why it is beneficial.

At Cotterill Civils, we provide twinwall pipe in a variety of sizes, as either perforated or unperforated.  These types of pipes are typically used as part of drainage systems, stormwater management and sewage infrastructure too.

Perforated twinwall pipe, also referred to as filter drain, has a selection of holes cut inside the corrugations of the pipe. These holes are used to collect and carry water from a waterlogged area to a designated place, such as a storm drain or a natural watercourse like a stream.

In contrast, unperforated pipe is completely solid and does not have any holes in its outer layer. It carries, but does not collect water to a dedicated discharge point.

Twinwall pipe has an outer corrugated layer which contributes additional strength to the product, whereas the inside layer is smooth which allows for a high flow rate of water to pass through. This design allows for heavy loads to be transported easily, as well as changing soil pressure or movement.

Our twinwall pipe is made from HDPE plastic which contains recycled materials. Caring for the environment is a key value for us as a business, and we believe it’s important to provide land drainage products which offer sustainable solutions.

HDPE is an immensely durable material, making it robust in a number of conditions. The flexibility of the pipe means that it can be molded to the environment it is placed in, making it an excellent choice for water transportation. In addition, it is ultra-light which allows for easy installation and transportation. Our twinwall pipe is also chemical and UV resistant, making it the ideal choice for underground land drainage applications.

There is no integrated coupler on either end of the pipe which means it can be cut to size. This allows for the pipe to be used in a wide variety of projects, and can be customised to the exact requirements.

Our twinwall pipe is BBA approved.

Both our perforated and unperforated twinwall pipes are available in 150mm, 225, 300, 450 and 600mm.
