Prof Pat Utomi, alongside Charles Soludo led Igbo leaders to visit Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB leader, and asked for his urgent release. He explains the reason behind his position.

Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Charles Soludo, on Tuesday, February 28, paid a visit to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu in Abuja.

Prof Pat Utomi and Soludo urged the government to release Kanu from detention immediately.

Nnamdi Kanu has been in detention since October 2015 when he was arrested by security agents in Lagos.

Kanu has been accused of treason due to his activities while serving as the Director of Radio Biafra.

On many occasions, courts have order that Nnamdi Kanu be released or made to face trial instead of being imprisoned unjustly.

It is this unjust imprisonment of Nnamdi Kanu that made Prof Pat Utomi to join other Igbo leaders to call for release of Kanu.

Prof Pat Utomi believes Kanu is a Nigerian citizen like those prosecuting him. Kanu has right to fair trial and that is what Utomi is calling for.

Pat Utomi said Nigeria is the most unjust country in the world. Citizrns are prosecuted unjustly. Many citizens have been prosecuted wrongly and people are not talking.

He called on all Nigerians that they should not wait until they are unjustly prosecuted like Nnamdi Kanu before they speak up.
