What does the immediate future have in store for my DVD overview channel after I finish my runthrough of the Phineas and Ferb DVDs in my collection?

Well, since making those P&F videos have put me in the right mood to do so, I'll be spending the next few weeks showcasing the DVDs I have of all the OTHER television shows produced by Disney to celebrate Disney Channel's 40th anniversary on April 18, 2023!

I am going through all my collection in the order in which the shows featured on them made their television premiere, divided into three categories: Disney Television Animation productions, live-action Disney shows, and programs not made by Disney that aired in most countries on and widely associated with Disney’s networks. It's sure to be a MAGICALLY good time!

Hyuck! It’s time to get GOOFY in Spoonerville as we put the spotlight on Disney’s most lovable bumbling dad and his son Max! That’s right: Goof Troop is next on my list of shows to cover in this overview video marathon.

Since I already covered both of the two multi-disc DVD sets that feature the actual Goof Troop show, I figured it’s about time for me to cover the nostalgic pop culture film phenomenon that born out of the show’s universe, A Goofy Movie! The one and only DVD of the film was released on June 20, 2000 as part of the short-lived but highly voluminous Walt Disney Gold Classic Collection line. Because it has never been discontinued and replaced by a newer release of the film, this disc is one of the very oldest Disney DVDs that are still in print. That wouldn’t be a problem at first glance, since this release has one of the most substantial bonus features slates for the usually little kid-pandering Gold Collection. It even includes a full episode of Goof Troop, “Calling All Goofs”, long before the volume sets came out (it was later included as the final episode on Volume 2), albeit labeled as simply “A Max and Goofy Cartoon” and missing the show’s intro.

Unfortunately, though, the film is presented on this DVD in pan-and-scan 4x3 instead of the original widescreen aspect ratio that it was made and released to theaters in. A Goofy Movie would later get released on Blu-ray in proper widescreen, albeit only as a Disney Movie Club exclusive like the volume sets of Goof Troop originally were, but it’s a bummer that people who don’t care enough about HD to want to upgrade to Blu-ray will most likely be stuck forever with this compromised presentation. At least the cropping isn’t especially noticeable if you aren’t deliberately looking for it, since the original aspect ratio was the narrowest one that could be considered widescreen, 1.66:1.

Anyways, here is a list of everything you can find in this overview of A Goofy Movie’s Gold Classic Collection DVD…

1.) FBI warnings (in the highly nostalgic “green screen” style)
2.) Walt Disney Home Video logo (1997-2001)
3.) Walt Disney Gold Classic Collection general promo (featuring a ton of titles that have since been upgraded out of the aforementioned collection, as well as The Spirit of Mickey, which sadly didn’t actually get a release as part of that line)
4.) The Little Mermaid: Return to the Sea - “Premiering only on VHS and Disney DVD” trailer
5.) The Tigger Movie VHS and DVD promo
6.) Toy Story 2 VHS and DVD ad
7.) DVD menus
8.) A Goofy Movie Trivia Game (fun fact: this game has the honor of being the first one included as a bonus feature on a DVD to have a full playthrough in one of my overview videos, because it’s the first one that I could actually get working properly on my PC; honestly, though, I’d be more surprised if this particular game did NOT work on the computer I own, considering that it’s simply a set of static menu screens featuring multiple-choice questions about the movie’s story)
9.) A Goofy Movie DVD Storybook
10.) “Disney’s Mambo Number 5” music video (performed by the legendary Lou Bega, who would later return to Disney to perform the theme song for the criminally underrated "Brandy & Mr. Whiskers")
11.) A Goofy Movie Theatrical Trailer
12.) Start of film

I don’t own An Extremely Goofy Movie on DVD yet, but I’ll make sure to cover that release whenever I can buy it.

I hope you feel like quacking up today, because next time, get caught up in the Duck Daze with Donald Duck and his nephews as portrayed in Goof Troop’s (admittedly nowhere near as good) spiritual successor.

DISCLAIMER: This video is NOT made specifically for kids, but for EVERYBODY.
