Mr Smith's Airship

Follow the story of Anthony Smith, Giles Camplin, Jasper Tomlinson and Mike Price as they build their airship, the Santos Dumont and take to the skies of Bedfordshire. In 1974 a BBC film crew followed the team as the constructed the ship inside Shed 1 at Cardington. The Santos Dumont was the first airship to recieve a C.A.A airworthiness certificate for 46 years. Anthony Smith later became the Chairman, then President of the Airship Heritage Trust. Dr. Giles Camplin sits on the Council of the Airship Heritage Trust, is the Editor of the in-house Magazine Dirigible, and is Chairman of the Airship Association.
