Well, the Puddles and Passports Family have now officially seen the Australian Outback… and what an adventure it was! Our experience completely exceeded our expectations and created lasting memories for our family. Australia Outback - Thank you!!

In this video we show footage from our Australian Outback road trip with our kids, Chloe and Camden. We take you with us as we explore three Australian Outback Stations, (also known as ranches for our American viewers),  :) located in Western Australia and show you where we stayed.  Each of the stations were unique and the type of accommodation we enjoyed were all very different which made for an exciting Australian Outback experience with our kids.

Where did we stay?

Melangata Station: 70 km north of Yalgoo, Melangata Station instantly charmed us with its rustic landscape, complete remoteness, and welcoming hosts. We cooked yummy meals using an old wood-burning stove in a simple camp kitchen, and we roasted (too many?) marshmallows over the open flames in our fire pit. Watch our ‘3 Campfire Desserts Using Tin Foil’. We stayed in a cozy two-room cabin, and we enjoyed tours of the old homestead and the station itself. If you’re looking for a quintessential Australian Outback experience, be sure to visit Jo and Ken at Melangata Station!

Kirkalocka Station: 60 km south of Mount Magnet, Kirkalocka Station offers various accommodation options from camping and caravan sites to the old shearers’ quarters to the historic homestead which was built in 1909 using mud bricks. Which option did we choose? Watch the video to find out! Our host Blair was friendly and accommodating, and our kids loved meeting their horses, goats, and chickens!

Bullara Station: A working cattle station 85 km south of Exmouth, Bullara Station is a terrific place from which to explore the Australian Outback and the Ningaloo region with your kids. A lively atmosphere permeates the grounds, and they have daily happy hours with damper, (like an Aussie sodabread), around the communal campfire, Friday burger nights, well-marked walking trails, and a lovely garden with a simple coffee, tea, and scone menu. We camped here, and we stayed in their Cappock Cottage. Throughout our stay the owners and staff made us feel welcomed and comfortable.

So if you are considering an Australian Outback road trip experience, be sure to add Melangata Station, Kirkalocka Station, and Bullara Station to your list. You won't be disappointed! Australia Outback at it's best!
