Installing Gentoo 2024 with the Handbook in VirtualBox

Gentoo has announced in December 2023 that they provide a native extended binary repository. So I take a look again at the installation of Gentoo and try to make as many shortcuts as possible while installing it just for fun in a virtual machine. If you want to take a deeper understanding of the kernel and compileflags then take a look at Gentoo. In contrast to a binary distribution like using Arch it could be a challenge and benefitial to configure and compile your system and apps custom-compiled for your machine. As I mentioned, that is something I am not willing to do in this video, so we are doing a lot of shortcuts by using unoptimized binaries.

I also talked to the Gentoo-Devs today and they fixed the handbook to include the part where you need to get the signatures for the binary packages in "Configure Portage to use binary packages by default", so that problem we ran into is fixed.
