Omega 3 Fatty Acids (O3FAs) continue to play a big role in treating dry eyes.

Dry Eyes is one of the most prevalent eye conditions affecting people across ages and lifestyles. Heavy screen time has been a stressor.

Taking O3FAs not only manages dry eyes and decreases symptoms, but it is also PREVENTIVE.

O3FAs are an essential building block to maintain proper human function. This comprises of EPAs and DHAs. Foods to eat include:

Salmon, herring, tuna, sardines, flax seed oil, edamame, walnuts, soybeans. Unfortunately, most of us do not get enough O3FAs through foods alone.

Why important? O3FAs are needed to product eicosanoids a hormone-like lipid that helps regulate inflammation.

O3FAs as an oral supplement have been shown to provide a therapeutic effect for patients suffering from dry eyes. Clinically we see an increase in tear break up time (how long tears stay on your eyes), decreased ocular surface disease, and increased goblet cell density. Conjunctival goblet cells are specialized cells that produce and secrete soluble mucins for the tear film to lubricate and protect your eyes.

I’ve been taking O3FAs for dry eyes way before it became popular. In fact, I did a study about O3FAs back in 1989. The reason I recommend the fish oils by @CarlsonLabs is because of quality of the products and the company mission. Carlson Labs has won many awards for the outstanding quality of their fish oils. I have nothing but respect for the dedication they have for their customers as well as to the environment through sustainable production of fish oils, and zero waste packaging.
