Location : Kampung Taee, Serian
Location : Kampung Taee, Serian Division, Sarawak, Malaysia.
Another year another Gawai parade. Another show of tribal solidarity. Pure loving pride for one’s own culture, that is what I like about Taee villagers. An event self motivated, without outside monetary assistance.
We noticed a lot more outsiders this year, foreigners and quite a bunch of photographers too. The event started late and well after 3pm. I wished it had started much earlier so we did not have to be caught in the rain. 1pm would have been ideal considering the unpredictability of our tropical weather.
Thanks to Ms Nolly for taking care of us and our foreign friends.
Would have loved to hang around Taee longer but our next host at Kampung Sapit was continuously calling us. By the way, there is a new road which could save you time and fuel from Taee to Teng Bukap. It passes through Nyabet and Krian. Enjoy the photos.
