Hey guys!!!
When I was signing up/ registering for the USMLE the sheer process on ECFMG (applying for the id number and the steps and the wait times) scared me and I couldn't find a video online talking about someone's experiences and how to go about it (maybe I didn't look hard enough) so in this video I speak about the process of applying for your USMLE Identification number and the exam with the steps and links to the website below:
1. Obtain a USMLE/ECFMG identification number from https://secure2.ecfmg.org/usmleidrequ...
You must be enrolled or have graduated from a medical school for this step
Wait time: 1-7 days
no fee payment at this stage
2. Go to the ECFMG webpage, use ID and password emailed to you to being identification number certification
Payment: $145 USD
3. Download Form 186 (Certificate of Identification Form) prepare photo (download onto desktop) but they can also take a live photo during the meeting DO NOT SIGN THE FORM
4. Book NotaryCam appointment by uploading a blank Form 186 PDF and a copy of your passport, you need internet connection/ webcam/ mic for this
Wait for confirmation of your NotaryCam appointment
5. ECFMG process' the application
Wait time: 10-14 days
STOP AT THIS STEP IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO TAKE THE USMLE WITHIN THE NEXT 6 MONTHS
6. Apply for a test permit online with this link https://secure2.ecfmg.org/emain.asp?a...
Choose your eligibility period and pay $940 if you are located in the US, prices vary depending on the location of the exam.
Wait time for approval: 7-30 days (mine took 6 weeks)
7. Schedule exam day using prometric and the number from your permit at https://securereg3.prometric.com/Disp...
