Scottish Otters | Wild and Free

Pull up a seat and watch 4 minutes of some Scottish Otters, Wild and Free - Just as they should be! Think of this as similar to a Springwatch Mindfulness moment, grab a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy! This isn't my usual video, usually I features in it and talk, This video I decided to edit together clips I gathered of Otters this year. My footage comes from my 17 day trip to Shetland along with a week long trip to The Isle of Mull. Straight away I want to say that no otters were disturbed whilst filming, I filmed everything on a Sony A7IV, In 4k60 (this gives it a 1.4x crop) I also used my 200-600 (usually at 600) and majority of these clips, I had my 1.4x teleconverter. Overall some clips were shot at the equivalent of 1176mm. All was made still using a beanbag made by Simon Eardley (www.instagram.com/simoneardleyphotography/ ‪@simoneardley‬ ) The Otters you will find whilst watching wildlife in Scotland are the Eurasian Otter (Lutra Lutra) - They are freshwater Otters but will hunt in Seawater - The are NOT Sea Otters! These Otters need a supply of fresh water to drink and to rinse the salt off their pelt. I have fond memories of being at my grandparents house in the Highlands of Scotland, laying on the shore watching Otters play. Turn the clock a couple of decades later and having developed some level of skills in photography and videography, I have had the honour and privilege to spend hours doing the same thing.... That is why there is no Mull series, I wanted to enjoy my time photographing wildlife in Scotland without the pressure to make something!
