How to Pray the Novena to Saint Mary Magdalene
1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross:
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
2. Opening Prayer
St Mary Magdalene, though you had committed many sins, you answered Christ’s merciful invitation to you and became his devoted and beloved disciple.
Thank you for showing me the incredible mercy of Jesus and the grandeur of His love.
3. Daily Readings
They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?"
She said to them, "They have taken away my Lord,
and I do not know where they have laid him."
When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus.
[Pause and reflect on the readings]
4. Novena Prayer
Dear Lord, we thank You for giving us- St. Mary Magdalene as an example of holiness. Help us to imitate the virtue she showed in courageously proclaiming You, and holding fast to her Faith.
St. Mary Magdalene, you followed Jesus with devotion during the time of His public ministry. It is believed that you also courageously told other women, what Jesus had done for you.
Please bring my petitions before Jesus, Whom you preached!
During the days of the early Church, it is believed that you remained among the Apostles. The early Church had many enemies, but it is thought that you courageously held fast to your Faith, against those enemies who sent you into exile.
Pray for me, that I may always practice my Faith courageously. Pray that I may grow in every virtue necessary for holiness.
[Please pause and mention your personal intentions for this Novena]
